Skyline Newsletter April/May 2024
Ferias & Fiestas
Hello everyone. It´s been a while since we last wrote. This is because we have taken the decision to write the newsletter bi-monthly, rather than monthly from now on. A lot of things have happened since and many events are on the table.
The feria season is upon us, with Jerez and Sanlucar, amongst others celebrating this month. This will be followed by Chiclana and El Puerto de Santa Maria in June. You can check online or on your town hall website for the dates for each town. Make sure you order your “Rebujito”, “Manzanilla” o “Fino” while you´re there.
New Skyline Office
We are proud to announce that we will be opening a new office in Chiclana very soon. We are busy preparing and furnishing, and will post some photos in the next edition. The address is as follows for those that want to pass by and say hello:
Centro Comercial El Camino
Carretera Las Lagunas no.7, Rana Verde
First Foor, Office 5
11130 Chiclana, Cadiz
We are beside the McDonalds, and Repsol station, and above the Cauto and Mercacentro shops. A google link is provided for convenience.
Location, Skyline: 9RWM+QPJ Chiclana de la Frontera
Golden Visas
The government has recently announced that they may be withdrawing this visa, which was introduced in 2014 to attract wealthy non-european investors to the country and to help revive the real estate economy since the 2008 crash.
Their argument behind it is that this has created a shortage of affordable homes for locals or people on low incomes.
However, this doesn´t quite stack up, as most locals or low income families will most likely not have the capital to invest the minimum 500.000 Eur necessary to obtain the visa.
I suspect there is something else politically motivated behind this move. Statistics show that the major beneficiaries of the visa have upto now been Chinese, Russian and Iranian investors.
There hasn´t been any new announcements on this, which suggests that the government is still evaluating the possibility, with some organisations calling for more control and transparency on who they are being granted to.
Joke of the Month:
I had a new computer installed last week, and my IT technician said I needed to set a password. I said what about “beef stew”. No he replied, you can´t use that, it’s not stroganoff.
